The UGA Libraries sponsors two awards: the Undergraduate Research Awards, which provide cash prizes for excellence in research and academic inquiry, and a Research Poster Competition.
LIBRARIES UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH AWARDS (Deadline March 14, 2022)
Who is eligible?
All undergraduate students are eligible to apply for this award.
What are the awards?
Seniors: one $800 first prize and two $450 second prizes
Third-Year Students: one $600 first prize and one $300 second prize
Jurors' Choice Award: One $400 prize highlighting a particular research method, resource, or collection. Can be from any category (Senior or 1st-3rd year).
How can I apply?
To apply for these awards:
- Meet with a librarian for a research consultation
- Write a 3-5 page essay describing and reflecting upon your research process and project
- Complete an application before the deadline (March 14, 2022)
Research projects "in progress" at the time of the award deadline can still be submitted and considered for the award. Please consult a librarian for more information.
How will you notify winners?
The UGA Libraries will announce prize winners, through the CURO Symposium webpage, among other outlets.

LIBRARIES RESEARCH POSTER COMPETITION (Deadline April 4, 2022)
This contest recognizes excellence in presenting information via the research poster format. All undergraduates who present their research at the symposium's poster session are eligible. To apply, upload your poster at the Research Poster Competition webpage by the date of the symposium poster session (April 4, 2022).
